Antimicrobial Stewardship for Assisted Living Facilities 2020 Update

Event Details

10 Nov, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Antibiotics are among the most frequently prescribed medications in nursing homes. Antibiotic stewardship is a coordinated program that promotes the appropriate use of antimicrobials, reduces microbial resistance and improves patient outcomes. Actions taken to improve antibiotic use will reduce adverse events, limit resistance and lead to better outcomes for residents in the Nursing home. Please join us for ABX stewardship in assisted living.

Following participation in the webinar, the attendee will be able to:

• Review the history of antimicrobial development and emergence of resistant organisms
• Outline the challenges that Assisted Living Facilities face when trying to avoid inappropriate use of antibiotics
• Anticipate the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic will have on the ability of facilities to develop and implement effective antimicrobial stewardship protocols
